# Using the web app

> Where each page of the Fjall web app is, what it is for, which controls open the rest, and who sees them, in the words on screen.

The pages of an organisation in the Fjall web app: where each one is, what it is for, and the named controls on it, in the words on its screens. A note beside a page or a control says when it shows, or who can use it.

These notes are the only states and roles this page records. Many actions that change the organisation or its settings are open only to owners and admins, and a page may show a setup step until it has something to show. If a control is not on your screen, ask an owner or admin of your organisation.

## The sidebar

The sidebar runs down the left of every page of an organisation. On a narrow screen it is folded away behind a button at the top left.

### Overview

In the sidebar: **Overview**. See what needs attention across the organisation: cost, findings, recent deploys and usage, or the next setup step before the first deploy.

### Applications

In the sidebar, under the **Build** heading: **Applications**. See every application with its traffic, errors and last deploy, and start a new one.

* The **New application** button, once the organisation has an application; only an owner or an admin can use it. It opens **New Application**. Create an application from a GitHub repository, choose its tier and services, and run its first deploy.
* The **Create Application** button, while the organisation has no applications; only an owner or an admin can use it. It opens **New Application**.
* Choose an application to open its page, headed by its name. See one application's health, traffic, cost, recent errors and latest deploys, and deploy it.

Its tabs: **Overview**, **Deployments**, **Releases**, **Infrastructure**, **Logs**, **Secrets**, **Settings**.

  * **Deployments**: Browse an application's deployment history and open any deployment.
  * **Releases**: See which release of an application is live, inspect earlier ones and roll back to one.
  * **Infrastructure**: Read an application's infrastructure file and propose changes to it as a pull request.
  * **Logs**: Search, filter and live-tail an application's logs.
  * **Secrets**: Add, edit, import and export an application's parameters and secrets, then apply them to its running services.
  * **Settings**: See an application's details, link or unlink its repository, and destroy or de-register it.

### Deployments

In the sidebar, under the **Build** heading: **Deployments**. Browse and filter every deployment in the organisation, and open, cancel or redeploy one.

* Choose a deployment to open its page, headed by what it deployed (the application, account or domain). Follow one deployment's steps and build output, approve a paused plan, and cancel or redeploy it.

### Domains

In the sidebar, under the **Build** heading: **Domains**. Manage the organisation's DNS zones and records; every change ships as a pull request, then deploys.

### Posture

In the sidebar, under the **Operate** heading: **Posture**. Its content shows only when the organisation's plan includes asset management. See the security and compliance posture of the organisation's AWS accounts and the findings that matter most.

Its tabs: **Overview**, **Inventory**.

* **Inventory**: Browse, filter and group every discovered cloud resource, and open one for its findings and infrastructure-as-code status.

### Insights

In the sidebar, under the **Operate** heading: **Insights**. Triage recommendations on performance, cost, reliability, security and deployments: apply, snooze or dismiss them, or open a fix as a pull request.

### Organisation

In the sidebar, under the **Organisation** heading: **Organisation**. See every connected AWS account, open one for its details, and connect another.

* The **Infrastructure** link, when the organisation is run from an organisation file. It opens **Infrastructure**. Read the organisation's infrastructure file, follow its change history and propose an edit as a pull request.
* The **Connect Account** button; only an owner or an admin can use it. It opens **Connect Account**. Connect an AWS account through a CloudFormation stack, then open the pull request that adds it to the organisation.

## At the foot of the sidebar

* **Docs** opens [docs.fjall.io](https://docs.fjall.io).
* **Settings** opens the Settings pages, at **Settings → General**.

## Settings

Select **Settings** at the foot of the sidebar. The Settings pages are listed in a sidebar of their own, which replaces the main one.
